Forever My Dome Sweet Dome: The Loud, Lively Home of Rays Baseball
By Brian Fletcher
St. Petersburg, FL
The Trop is an incredibly special place to me. I’ve been going to games there since 1998. I’ve seen some of the worst and best baseball teams come out of that first base dugout. I got to watch as the stadium was transformed from a dull warehouse to a fun, lively venue. Whether it was Wade Boggs getting his 3000th hit, the relay from Kevin Kiermaier to Willy Adames to Travis d’Arnaud, throwing out Jose Altuve at the plate, a spectacular Sam Fuld catch, or an unlikely postseason grand slam from Jordan Luplow, when the Trop gets loud, it gets LOUD.
A new stadium is needed for the Rays’ future, but I will forever miss my Dome Sweet Dome.
About Brian Fletcher
I’m a 34-year-old Rays fan going back to their inaugural season. I have more shirts with Tropicana Field on them than anything else in my closet. If you ever meet me and I don’t have a voice, I was screaming from section 143 the night before.
